Speaking at the first ever Maldives Film Association Awards, yesterday evening, President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the government would continue to support the Maldivian film industry.

In his remarks at award ceremony held at Maldives Centre for Social Education Centre, the President said developing the Maldives entertainment industry was an aim of the government. The President also congratulated winners of the awards.

At yesterday’s ceremony, the President presented the Maldives Film Association Lifetime Achievement Award to Roanuge Hassan Manik.

Dark Rain Entertainment’s ‘Happy Birthday’ won the award for the Best Film and ‘Fageeru Koi’ won the award for the Best Short Film.

Yosuf Shafeeu was awarded the Best Male Actor from ‘Happy Birthday’, while Niuma Mohamed won the award for Best Female Actor from ‘Yoosuf’.

Director of ‘Happy Birthday’, Moomin Fuad won the Best Director Award.
