President Mohamed Nasheed has today met with Chairman of Indian Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and former Foreign Secretary of India Ambassador Shyam Saran.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President and Ambassador Saran held in depth discussions on recommendations of RIS for Indian support to facilitate sustainable economic growth in the Maldives.
In this regard, the President and the RIS Chairman exchanged views on expanding the use and connectivity of information and communication technologies in the development of the Maldives.
Further, Chairman of RIS Shyam Saran highlighted the need to strengthen financial institutions to support the development and create an environment conducive to investment in the Maldives.
The Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), is a New Delhi based autonomous think-tank under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
RIS is envisioned as a forum for promoting effective policy dialogue and capacity-building among developing countries on international economic issues.
