President Mohamed Nasheed has visited to view to progress of Convention Centre being built in Addu City for the SAARC Summit to be held in the Maldives later this year.

The President is visiting Addu City to attend the first ever Community Cabinet meeting to be held in Addu City later today. He arrived in Addu City yesterday afternoon.

During his visit to the Convention Centre site today, he sought the details of the progress of the project from the contractors and the relevant government authorities.

The President laid the foundation stone of the Centre on 4 January this year.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the President also examined the progress of the on-going road construction project in Hithadhoo and other parts of Addu City in time for the SAARC Summit in November.

He met with all the government and private organizations involved in the road construction project after visiting the site and he was updated on the progress of the project.

In addition, the President today met with a delegation from Fuahmulah visiting Addu City.
