New Ambassador of South Korea accredited to the Maldives, Choi Jon Moon has presented his Letter of Credence to President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the Credentials, President Nasheed congratulated the new Ambassador.
The President highlighted the Maldives’ commitment to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and South Korea. On the on-going engagements between both countries, the President noted the proposal by a South Korean company, NexGen to build housing units in the Maldives as part of the government’s housing programme.
The new South Korean Ambassador reiterated South Korean government’s dedication to the development of the Maldives. He emphasized the importance of increasing the engagement of South Korean private sector in the Maldivian economy.
The meeting was attended by Advisor on Political Affairs Mohamed Shihab, Foreign Policy Advisor Dr Ahmed Shaheed and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Haula Ahmed Didi.
