Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia Calls on the President

Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Ammar has paid a courtesy call President Mohamed Nasheed today.

Speaking at the meeting, President Nasheed highlighted the close brotherly relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. He said the Maldives wanted to further strengthen the longstanding relationship in more areas, thanking the continued development assistance to the Maldives from Saudi Arabia.

The President expressed his best wishes and prayers for the good health of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia Dr Al-Ammar said Saudi Arabia has a special relationship with the Maldives, and the Saudi government attached a particular importance to enhancing the relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

He also conveyed the good wishes from King Abdullah and the Saudi government to the President.

The meeting held at the President’s Office today was attended by Vice President Dr Waheed, National Security Advisor Ameen Faisal, Advisor on Political Affairs Mohamed Shihab and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari.
