Asia Pacific Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Mokhtar A. Awan has paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed today.
Discussions during the meeting held at the President’s Office this afternoon were focused on achieving dynamic transitional changes in the aviation industry of Maldives.
At the meeting, President Mohamed Nasheed highlighted the government’s initiative to integrate Maldives into the international aviation community through public private partnerships.
President Nasheed also spoke on consolidating air connectivity between SAARC countries for better air transport in the South Asian Region.
The Regional Director spoke on the importance of civil aviation industry in economic development of the country.
The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Amin Faisal and Minister of Transport and Communication Mohamed Adil Saleem.
