As part of President Mohamed Nasheed’s tour to some islands Haa Alif and Haa Dhaal Atolls, which he began on Thursday, he has arrived in Haa Dhaal Atoll Kulhudhuffushi this afternoon.
After the welcoming ceremony at the harbour, the President inaugurated the water depot at the Kulhudhuffushi port.
The water depot established by Maldives Water and Sewerage Company is to sell water to travellers, boats and fishermen who use Kulhuduffushi harbour.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to hold discussions with Kulhudhuffushi Island Council on the government’s development programmes in Kulhudhuffushi.
He will discuss the plans to develop the newly reclaimed 28 hectares of land in Kulhudhffushi.
Among other programmes, the President will also share the government’s plans to develop Kulhuduffushi harbour as a commercial and fishing hub with necessary facilities under the government’s commercial harbour development initiative.
Before concluding his visit to the island, the President will inspect the health, education and social services infrastructure on the island.
