New Ambassador of Norway accredited to the Maldives, Hilda Haraldstad has presented her letter of credence to President Mohamed Nasheed today.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office, President Nasheed congratulated new Ambassador Haraldstad.
The President and the Ambassador also discussed the current political and economic situation in the Maldives.
The President, underscoring the recent local council elections held in the country, said local governance and decentralization were the country’s newest project. Further he sought Norwegian assistance to strengthen democratic governance in the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by Advisor on Political Affairs Mohamed Shihab and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Naseem.
