Secretary General of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed has called on President Mohamed Nasheed today.
Discussions at the meeting held at the President’s Office were focused on the preparations for this year’s SAARC Summit to be held in Addu City, the Maldives.
At the meeting, reiterating the commitment to connect SAARC countries with a ferry link, the President requested the Secretary General to work to fast track the project to reach a material outcome during the SAARC Summit.
Secretary General Dhiyana Saeed asserted SAARC connectivity, especially a cargo ferry link between SAARC countries was also one of her key priorities. She updated the President on the progress of the discussions of the project.
Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed of the Maldives is the first female to hold the top post at the regional association.
