The Cabinet, at its working session today, has agreed on the administrative structure of the seven national offices established in seven regions of the Maldives.

The President established seven national offices in seven regions yesterday, as stipulated in the Article 71 of the Decentralization Act, to deliver services provided by the national authorities situated in Male’, in each administrative region.

In addition to the administrative structure, the Cabinet also deliberated on the organizational structures of the national offices.

At the session, the Cabinet decided on the appointment of heads to each national office as follows:

  1. Mohamed Hunaif, Minister of State, Upper North Province, as head the National Office, Upper North Region
  2. Ali Niyaz, Deputy Minister of State, North Province, as head the National Office, North Region
  3. Hussain Irfan Zaki, Minister of State, North Central Province, as head the National Office, North Central Province
  4. Ibrahim Mohamed, Deputy Minister of State, Central Province, as head the National Office, Central Region
  5. Ahmed Mujuthaba, Minister of State, South Central Province, as head the National Office, South Central Region
  6. Mohamed Shareef, Deputy Minister of State, Upper South Province, as head the National Office, Upper South Region
  7. Ahmed Adhham, Deputy Minister of State, South Province, as head the National Office, South Region

It was decided, at today’s working session of the Cabinet, that all activities of city councils, atoll councils and islands should be conducted through these national offices.
