As stipulated in the Article 127 of the Decentralization Act (Act Number 7/2010), President Mohamed Nasheed has today established the administrative offices in every local council constituency.
These administrative offices would carry out the administrative tasks of every local council and assist the atoll councils, island councils and city councils to be established under the Act to perform their duties.
Following the establishment of the administrative offices, atoll offices already in atoll council constituencies will be changed to the atoll council administrative offices.
In addition, island offices in each island council’s constituency will run as the island council’s administrative office.
Further, island offices currently in each island in Addu City will operate as a branch of Addu City Council’s administrative office after the establishment of Addu City Council.
After the establishment of Male’ City Council, Male’ Municipality will be the administrative office of Male’ City Council and Male’ ward offices will operate as branches of Male’ City Council’s administrative office.
