As part of his tour of some islands of the Northern Atolls of the Maldives, President Mohamed Nasheed visited Filladhoo and Vashafaru of North Thiladhunmathi Atoll today.
Meeting the people of both islands, the President reiterated that the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) had a vision for the development of the country as well as for the development of Filladhoo and Vashafaru.
He underscored that successful delivery of MDP’s electoral pledges would develop the Maldives.
Highlighting the government’s achievements towards delivering its pledges, President Nasheed said the success of the government’s social protection programme has improved the socio-economic conditions of the islands.
In this regard, he said 144 residents of Filladhoo and 144 of Vashafaru were insured under Madhana health insurance scheme, while 45 residents of Filladhoo and 38 from Vashafaru continued to receive old age pension.
