Minister of Education of Bangladesh Nurul Islam Nahid has paid a courtesy call Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed today.
Discussions at the meeting, held at the President’s Office this afternoon, were primarily focused on increasing collaboration in the education sector, especially in higher education, between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
Recognizing Bangladesh’s experience in governance of universities, the Vice President underscored the importance of learning from Bangladeshi experience as the Maldives prepared to inaugurate its first university.
During the meeting, the Vice President also highlighted potential areas for collaboration between both countries including climate change, technology sharing, and tourism development and training.
Vice President Dr Waheed also noted that Bangladesh had one of the most robust civil society frameworks, and the young civil society in the Maldives would benefit from Bangladesh experience.
At the meeting, Bangladeshi Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid shared with the Vice President about university functioning in Bangladesh. He agreed with the Vice President on the areas he proposed to increase cooperation between both countries.
