The government has signed an agreement with the Indian government on capacity building to promote technology adaptation in the Maldives today.

 
Under the agreement on “Education Capacity Building to Promote Technology Adaptation in the Republic of Maldives” worth US$5.3 million, India will provide training in the Maldives, especially in the atolls to promote new technology adaptation in the education sector.
 
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office, attended by President Nasheed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Naseem signed the agreement on behalf of the government of the Maldives, while the Indian government was represented by Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives D. M. Mulay.
 
During this morning’s ceremony, the Indian High Commissioner also handed over the token documents relating to the sporting equipments and pharmaceutical supplies donated by the Indian government.
 
The Indian government donated to the Maldives, sporting equipments worth Rs7 million and pharmaceuticals worth Rs10.6 million.
 

In his remarks at the ceremony, President Mohamed Nasheed thanked the Indian government for its “valuable” donation of sporting goods, pharmaceuticals and the agreement to train local capacity on information and communication technologies.
