His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed deepest condolences to Her Excellency Takaichi Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, following a powerful earthquake that struck off Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, resulting in the tragic loss of life, injuries to many, and widespread destruction of homes, property, and vital infrastructure.

In his message, the President expressed profound sadness at the disaster and, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, conveyed deepest sympathies to the Prime Minister, the government, and the people of Japan during this time of profound grief.

President Dr Muizzu extended heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and expressed sincere solidarity with all those who have been injured, displaced, or otherwise affected by this devastating tragedy. He affirmed that the thoughts and prayers of the Maldivian people are with the people of Japan as they confront the immense challenges of recovery and rebuilding in the aftermath.
