High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to the Maldives, His Excellency Jagnnath Sami, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.
The High Commissioner was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed His Excellency Jagannath Sami as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji.
Following the ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner reaffirmed the longstanding bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Fiji. They discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism, climate action, and sustainable development, while expressing their commitment to working together for mutual benefit and strengthening cooperation in regional and international forums.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Fiji were established on 15 March 1988.
