First Lady Sajidha Mohamed graced the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of Mianz College.
Addressing the ceremony, the First Lady noted that Mianz College had achieved remarkable success within a relatively short period. She added that the State welcomes the institution's contribution to providing a strong national foundation for nurturing a capable and responsible new generation.
Describing development as the transformation of the individual and education as the vehicle through which such transformation is achieved, the First Lady reminded students of the values and good conduct that are the hallmarks of an educated person. She urged students to remain steadfast in their faith, loyal to their nation, diligent in their endeavours, and proud of their identity as Maldivian citizens.
At the ceremony, Ahmed Muttaqi, Founder and Chairman of Mianz College, presented the First Lady with a commemorative gift on behalf of the institution. The college anthem was officially launched and the Student Association Executive Committee was also inaugurated during the event.
Commemorative plaques were presented to members of staff in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the college, marking milestones of 5, 10 and 15 years. The First Lady personally presented plaques to staff members who had completed more than 15 years of dedicated service to the institution.
The ceremony was attended by senior Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and senior officials, staff and students of Mianz College.
