First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that preparing for Qur'an competitions goes beyond achieving proficiency in Tajweed and serves to strengthen one's faith and instil patience and good moral character.
She made these remarks at the closing ceremony of the Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) employees' Qur'an and Madhaha Competition 1447.
Highlighting that the Maldives is a 100 per cent Islamic nation, the First Lady emphasised that a deep love and reverence for the Holy Qur'an should be at the core of every Maldivian, adding that personal experiences and awareness gained through such competitions are not merely an exercise in demonstrating skill, but lifelong lessons of enduring value.
She further highlighted the contributions of WAMCO employees, noting their dedication in maintaining cleanliness across the Maldives and providing essential services to the public. She commended the company's management for its efforts in promoting Islamic values and a strong religious spirit among employees.
Congratulating the winners, the First Lady encouraged participants who did not secure a position to strive harder and aim for success in future competitions. She also presented prizes and trophies to employees who secured first place in the competition.
