President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated Masjid Yoosuf Al Barbaree (Barbaree Mosque), opening the mosque in conjunction with the Asr prayer this afternoon.

The mosque was contracted to a private party for development and built as a modern three-storey structure with a capacity of 1,400 worshippers.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, senior Government officials, and members of the public. Following the inauguration, the President toured the mosque.

Construction and development of mosques across the Malé region is actively ongoing under grant aid, as part of the Government's broader efforts to expand prayer facilities across the country. Several mosques are slated to open this year, with a number of newly built mosques across various islands having already been inaugurated ahead of Ramadan.
