President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with parents from the Maldives Autism Support and Neuro-Inclusion Unity at the President's Office this morning.

During the meeting, parents shared key concerns relating to the education and wellbeing of children with autism and other disabilities. They underscored the need to strengthen inclusive education frameworks within schools, expand vocational training opportunities, and address challenges in accessing essential therapeutic services.

Among the proposals submitted were measures to facilitate Quran teaching for students with disabilities within schools, strengthen existing therapy services, and establish a specialised Government centre providing integrated therapy, education, and vocational skills training. Parents also called for a review of the current composition of the Disability Council.

The President assured those present that the concerns and proposals raised would be given due priority, and reaffirmed his commitment to working towards timely and effective solutions.
