Skilled artisan Aminath Gumeyria has presented a hand-woven Dhivehi Feyli to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

She presented the Feyli during a meeting held at the President's Office today.

During the meeting, Gumeyria shared details of her journey with the President, explaining how her interest in weaving was first sparked. She described how she mastered the traditional weaving techniques practised by Maldivian ancestors and briefed the President on her efforts to revive this dying craft.

The President affirmed that the Government would always support individuals working to promote and revive Maldivian heritage and traditional crafts. He commended Gumeyria for her dedication to revitalising the practice and encouraged her to continue her valuable work.

The Feyli presented today was crafted in the style of the traditional attire commonly worn in the Maldives around 1932.
