Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has urged the players of the senior national men’s volleyball team to uphold the nation’s pride and honour when representing the Maldives in international competitions.
He made the remarks at a ceremony held today at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE), where the final squad for the senior national volleyball team was officially announced.
The Vice President extended his best wishes to the team for success in their upcoming fixtures. Emphasising the pride Maldivians take in the accomplishments of national sporting teams, he expressed confidence that the volleyball squad would remain determined in its quest to bring home the championship title.
Recognising volleyball as one of the most popular and successful sports in the Maldives, the Vice President reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the continued development of the sport across the country.
The Maldivian senior men’s national volleyball team will compete in the 2025 Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Cup, scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 22 to 28 October. Ahead of the tournament, the team will depart for Thailand today to undergo a week-long training camp from 10 to 17 October.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, along with senior officials from the Ministry and the Volleyball Association of Maldives, attended the ceremony.
