President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured the residents of ADh. Dhan'gethi that the island's key development projects, including harbour expansion, land reclamation, and coastal protection, will advance in accordance with their wishes.

He emphasised that the completion of these initiatives would bring significant urban and economic progress to the island. The President made these remarks while meeting with residents at Dhan'gethi School Hall this morning, the first stop on his tour of the inhabited islands of South Ariatholhu, which commenced today.

Describing the three projects as interconnected and vital to the island's overall development, the President confirmed that the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will undertake all three to address the island's most pressing needs.

He also highlighted several additional development initiatives planned for the island, including the agreement signed today to construct ten new classrooms and a multipurpose hall at Dhan'gethi School, which he said would bring substantial benefits to students and the wider community. The President further committed to ensuring that air-conditioning is installed in the school's existing classrooms and hall before the completion of the new facilities.

On healthcare, the President announced that construction of the Health Centre's extension building would begin as soon as the allocated land is prepared.

Recognising the island's growing local tourism sector, he announced plans to introduce US dollar ATM services in Dhan'gethi within the first quarter of 2026.

He also revealed plans to develop a modern football pitch on the island, which will be included in the 2026 Budget.

During his visit, President Dr Muizzu attended the ceremony to commence several new projects, including the foundation stone-laying for the Dhan'gethi Fitness and Recreation Centre, and the groundbreaking of the new police post, and the council secretariat.
