President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with leaders and residents of Th. Gaadhiffushi to exchange views and confer on matters relating to the island's development.
This consultative meeting took place during his tour of all inhabited islands across four atolls and was held at Gaadhiffushi Preschool.
President Dr Muizzu emphasised that the projects launched on the island during this tour are extremely important for Gaadhiffushi's progress, and gave assurance that they would be carried through to completion. Notably, a land reclamation project had been signed during the meeting, which he noted would also resolve the island's erosion problems once completed.
The President also said that the school project, which had been halted for various reasons, would resume very soon. He further stated that the Health Centre project would proceed with full vigour, alongside harbour works and fitness and recreation centre construction.
Furthermore, the President outlined plans for the island that are included in the forthcoming 2026 Budget, such as upgrading the futsal pitch and establishing an outdoor gym. He also noted that arrangements have been made to proceed with the Council Secretariat project with assistance from China, adding that solutions would be found for travel difficulties as well.
The President also noted that with today's inauguration of Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM services in Gaadhiffushi, this service has now been established on all inhabited islands of Kolhumadulu Atoll.
Meanwhile, the Gaadhiffushi Council outlined the island's most pressing infrastructural development needs to the President. They requested solutions for the harbour channel problems and issues with the island's powerhouse, and also called for the implementation of a housing project on the island.
Having listened to the concerns of Gaadhiffushi residents, the President reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all development projects would be completed according to citizens' wishes and aspirations.
