President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that a substantial portion of the 2026 national budget will be allocated to digitalisation initiatives. He made the statement during an address to residents of Muli in Mulaku Atoll, as part of his ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls.

The President outlined the Government’s objective to digitise all public services nationwide by 2026, with work continuing through 2027 and into the early months of 2028. He emphasised that the initiative represents a collaborative effort between the Government and the private sector.

Underscoring the importance of transparency and public engagement in development planning, President Dr Muizzu affirmed that citizens will play an active role in shaping the forthcoming 20-year development master plan. He noted that dedicated teams will visit islands to consult with communities, ensuring that local needs are accurately reflected. The President further stated that the primary purpose of the master plan is to safeguard continuity in development, irrespective of political transitions. In this regard, he revealed that legislation is currently being drafted to support the implementation of the plan.

President Dr Muizzu concluded his address by reiterating his Administration’s commitment to achieving comprehensive national development and long-term stability.
