President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the long-awaited airport in F. Magoodhoo will be completed within the next 12 months.

He gave the assurance during his ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls, while addressing residents gathered at the Magoodhoo Social Centre on Sunday morning.

The meeting was attended by members of the Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and local residents, who briefed the President on the community’s most pressing concerns.

Residents urged the Government to expedite the airport’s construction without further delay. In response, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed that all components of the project would be completed within a year.

He also provided updates on other development projects planned for the island. Construction of a multipurpose school hall and a health centre is scheduled to commence within the year, while the upgrading of the island’s harbour has been earmarked for inclusion in next year’s budget.

During his visit, the President inaugurated a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM and presided over groundbreaking ceremonies for the Fitness and Recreation Centre, the Magoodhoo Island Council Secretariat, and a new police post.
