President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the V. Fulidhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions today to discuss the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at Vaavu Atoll School.

During the meeting, Council members outlined the developmental projects most needed on the island. They highlighted the urgency of finding sustainable solutions to land erosion and stressed the need for a US dollar ATM. They also noted that the harbour development project, inaugurated today, would bring significant improvements to travel to and from the island. In addition, they requested changes to the concept design of the proposed land reclamation initiative.

The Council further called for an increase in staffing at the island’s Health Centre. A planned expansion project for the Health Centre was inaugurated today, with Council members noting that it would greatly help address healthcare challenges. They also appealed to expedite work on the school’s multi-purpose hall and requested solutions to the shortage of resources in the sporting sector.

President Dr Muizzu assured the Council that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing development projects.
