President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued a decree amending the geographic jurisdiction of Th Madifushi by designating Th Ufuriyaa and Th Kolhufushi within Madifushi’s jurisdiction. This decision was made in line with the Presidential pledge to designate these islands under Madifushi’s jurisdiction.
The decision was made through Decree No. 24/2025, issued pursuant to the authority granted to the President under Section 56-1 (a) of the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 7/2010), which allows the President to determine and designate the jurisdictions of both City and Island Councils.
In accordance with the decree, a revised chart reflecting the updated geographic jurisdiction of Th Madifushi has been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
