President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the HDh. Makunudhoo Island Council, the Women’s
Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions at Makunudhoo Kaani Maalam today to discuss the island’s key development priorities.
During the meeting, the Council emphasised the importance of expediting the completion of Makunudhoo Airport, alongside advancing the range of development initiatives announced earlier in the day. They highlighted the urgent need to resolve the ongoing power crisis at the powerhouse.
The Council also urged the Government to ensure the swift completion of the island’s handball court and underscored the necessity of constructing a new building for the Makunudhoo Council to address current spatial constraints at its Secretariat. The Council further appealed for the provision of social housing units, noting their significance in meeting the community’s housing needs.
The President assured the Council that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing development projects. The President was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises.
