President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have arrived in North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, Utheemu, to attend this year’s official National Day celebrations.
President Dr Muizzu had pledged that the National Day would be officially celebrated at a national level in Utheemu this year and next year.
During the visit, the President and First Lady will take part in several events held to mark the occasion. This includes the inauguration of the project to revive the legacy of Ghazee Bandaarain, commemorated with the groundbreaking of Boduthakurufaanu Gate. The President will also attend the official reception for National Day.
At the ceremony, President Dr Muizzu will confer the Presidential Honour for Distinguished Service to the Nation of Maldives upon the people of Utheemu, along with the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition.
Following the conclusion of the Utheemu visit, the President is scheduled to embark on a tour of Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
