President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the promises made during the presidential election, emphasising that the trust placed in him by the people of Kudarikilu will guide his actions.
Addressing the community at Kudarikilu School during his ongoing visit to the inhabited islands in Baa Atoll, the President said the way forward has now been paved to fulfil the pledges made during the campaign. He also provided updates on progress achieved and measures being taken to address public concerns.
Highlighting that one of the community’s main issues is the stalled water and sanitation projects, the President announced that work will resume in August and be completed within a maximum of six months from September.
He stated that road construction in Kudarikilu has been assigned to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and will commence immediately after the water supply and sewerage works are finished.
The President also addressed plans for education and health improvements, revealing plans for a multi-purpose hall following the completion of stalled school renovations. He also noted that the foundation for a new health centre had been laid, signifying the beginning of upgraded health services on the island.
The President confirmed that a contract has been signed for a new mosque, with work to begin as soon as land allocation is finalised.
He added that work required to complete the football field project on the island would be taken up this month, alongside plans to establish a fitness and recreation centre and a handball court.
President Dr Muizzu assured Kudarikilu residents that all these projects will be carried out swiftly and with close oversight.
