President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the B. Kudarikilu Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions today, to discuss the island’s key development needs. The meeting was held at Kudarikilu School.

During the discussions, Council members stressed the urgency of expediting the water and sewerage project and proposed the acquisition of a nearby uninhabited island for the benefit of local residents. They also highlighted the need for a sustainable and effective solution to mitigate coastal erosion.

The Council further underscored the importance of completing the ongoing school building project as soon as possible and recommended incorporating a multipurpose hall into the plans. Other concerns raised included difficulties in supplying electricity to remote areas of the island from the powerhouse, as well as the space constraints currently faced by the Council and the health centre.

In response, President Dr Muizzu assured that the Government would review the issues raised and work towards appropriate solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing development initiatives on the island, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and heads of State-Owned Enterprises who joined him on the visit.
