President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the N. Landhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s key developmental priorities. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Landhoo Island Council.

During the discussions, Council members emphasised the urgent need to address delays in the construction of the new Landhoo School building, citing space constraints and the pressing requirement for additional classrooms. They also raised concerns about the stalled construction of the island’s ice plant and the lack of adequate sports facilities for youth.

The Council members expressed appreciation for the extension of services at the local health centre to operate 24 hours and welcomed the recent adjustments to the academic calendar. Members further underscored the importance of establishing a designated boat docking area and tackling coastal erosion affecting parts of the island. Additionally, the Council expressed hope for the construction of a dedicated building to facilitate police services.

In response, President Dr Muizzu stated that the relevant ministers would review the issues raised by the Council. He also shared updates on ongoing projects, with further details provided by cabinet ministers and heads of state-owned enterprises.

Prior to the meeting, President Dr Muizzu attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Landhoo Fitness and Recreation Centre.
