First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has emphasised that compassion, dedication, and service to humanity lie at the heart of every successful health system.

She made the statement during the opening ceremony of Hinithun 2025, the first-ever International Dental Conference, being held in the Maldives.

In her address to healthcare professionals and stakeholders, the First Lady urged all participants to harness the insights gained from the conference to reimagine dental health models that better reflect and respond to the evolving needs of our populations. She further stressed the importance of adopting a holistic approach that prioritises preventive practices, continuous learning through technology and innovation, and improved accessibility to services.

The First Lady acknowledged that despite growing awareness, dental and oral health continue to be neglected areas, highlighting significant opportunities for further improvement. She noted that public awareness, healthier dietary choices, and regular dental check-ups are essential components of effective oral healthcare.

She went on to note that dental health is closely linked to overall health and wellbeing. She pointed out that untreated tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancers are on the rise, and called for stronger healthcare systems and policies to address these concerns.

Reiterating her core message, the First Lady stated that compassion, dedication, and service to humanity lie at the heart of every successful health system. She appealed to health sector professionals and stakeholders to use the conference as a platform to forge new collaborations and shape a future where dental care is recognised as a standard component of health services.

Hinithun 2025 is the first-ever International Dental Conference in the Maldives, bringing together professionals and stakeholders from the dental sector to elevate standards in dental care.
