His Excellency Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Kokhir Rasulzoda. The Vice President is currently visiting Tajikistan for the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation
During the call, the Vice President and Prime Minister discussed several key areas of cooperation. They acknowledged the Maldives as one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change, with rising sea levels posing a direct threat. Both leaders expressed interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation in climate change adaptation and sustainable development.
The discussions emphasised the need to improve agricultural cooperation between both countries. They also expressed a mutual interest in boosting tourism collaboration, with Tajikistan acknowledging the Maldives’ global leadership in the industry and expressing a desire to develop its tourism sector.
Concluding the call, both leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties further and work together on areas that bring mutual benefit to both countries.
