In his official address to the nation on the occasion of Eid al-Adha 1447H, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that the true essence of Eid lies in enriching the soul with piety and renewing the collective resolve to prioritise faith and the path of righteousness.

The President expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for bestowing the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha upon us, and extended warm Eid greetings and best wishes to all Maldivians, including those who travelled to perform the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj this year.

He highlighted that Eid al-Adha stands as an enduring testament to compassion, uniting the entire Muslim Ummah through the profound lessons and wisdom ordained by Almighty Allah. He also reflected on how the joy that begins with the equality of the sacred plains of Arafat and spreads in every direction is one of the brightest symbols of human compassion.

Furthermore, the President emphasised the core values Eid imparts: instilling exemplary moral values in the youth, and finding personal fulfilment in bringing joy to the vulnerable and lonely within our communities. He noted that the bonds of unity revitalised during Eid are a driving force for sustaining peace and harmony across the nation. Additionally, he urged the public to uphold Islamic values during their celebrations and festivities, and to refrain from practices that conflict with traditional Maldivian values and customs.

The President concluded with prayers that these blessed days of Eid continue to bring joy and prosperity to the nation, and that Almighty Allah keep our beloved Maldives and the entire Muslim Ummah under His eternal protection.

The President also extended his Eid greetings on social media, conveying heartfelt well-wishes and calling on the people of the Maldives to offer abundant praise to Almighty Allah, recite the Takbeer, and celebrate Eid in keeping with the Islamic spirit.

Noting that travelling to the islands with family and strengthening community bonds is a time-honoured Maldivian tradition, he offered prayers that this Eid be one in which brotherhood is deepened and every citizen feels a sense of peace and contentment.
