President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the relevant authorities on Thursday to address concerns raised by advocates representing individuals held in prolonged pre-trial detention.
The meeting, held at the President’s Office, focused on issues highlighted by the advocates, particularly those submitted in writing the previous day. In-depth discussions were held on the development of an electronic monitoring system aimed at providing a second chance to individuals in extended pre-trial detention through supervised release mechanisms.
In attendance at today’s meeting were the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsaan; the Attorney General, Uz Ahmed Usham; and the Prosecutor General, Justice (Retired) Uz Abbas Shareef.
