President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Hoarafushi Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of institutions to discuss matters needed for the island's development. The meeting was held Wednesday evening, at Hoarafushi Council Secretariat.

At the meeting, the Council members had appealed to expedite work on the island’s hospital and for sustainable solutions to the waste management process. The Council also stressed that land reclamation projects need to be started to address the housing issues facing the island. The Council further appealed to the President to expedite harbour expansion project, upgrade the island’s airport to an international one, and the creation of an Islamic Centre in the island. The Council also requested the President to include Huvandhoo in the island’s jurisdiction.

The President affirmed that this Administration would work to fulfil his pledges and address the needs highlighted by the Council. The accompanying Ministers and heads of Government institutions provided updates on the progress of ongoing development projects in Hoarafushi.
