During a meeting with HA. Hoarafushi residents, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu affirmed that 2025 will be a year of progress, with many campaign promises to the people of Hoarafushi beginning to materialise.
Whilst visiting several islands in North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, the President met with Hoarafushi residents and shared an optimistic outlook for their community.
President Dr Muizzu emphasised his commitment to fulfilling his pledges, stating that these promises were made with the conviction that they are essential to realising the community's aspirations. He explained that his Government has structured its work to ensure swift progress across all Maldivian islands.
Speaking specifically about Hoarafushi's development, the President announced that the Government has opened contractor bidding for housing units across various islands. This initiative addresses what he described as the nation's most pressing challenge – the housing shortage. The President confirmed that 200 housing units planned for Hoarafushi are included in this year's budget.
He also outlined commitments to land reclamation, waste management systems, and hospital construction. The President assured residents that work on sports facilities and harbour development would commence at various points throughout the year. He emphasised that all electoral promises made to Hoarafushi would see progress within the year.
Regarding economic development, the President highlighted ongoing governmental initiatives to expand opportunities. He noted that the Maldives Economic Gateway project is advancing well, with visible progress expected by mid-year. The President also referenced numerous economic initiatives undertaken over the past 14 months.
Concluding his address, President Dr Muizzu expressed confidence that, with God's blessing, the people of HA. Hoarafushi would witness rapid and comprehensive development in their community. He closed with a prayer for the success of these endeavours.
