President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the development potential of Filladhoo Island is immense, given the island's relative size and its potential to cater to a large population.
He made the statement while speaking to the residents of Filladhoo at the island's Fitness and Recreation Centre on Tuesday.
In his address, the President said that there was room to sustainably develop the international airport and diversify the tourism sector in the region, with Filladhoo serving as a hub.
President Dr Muizzu further said that road construction on the island would be given priority, followed by the health, education, and fitness sectors.
Reflecting on the planned ventures for Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu Atolls, the President briefed the public on the details of the development projects currently being carried out in the region.
Prior to the community meeting, the President attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Council Secretariat.
The President also formally launched the "Magey Solar" programme, following the meeting with Filladhoo residents.
