President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, February 6, 2025, as a Government holiday. This was announced in Directive No. 1/2025 issued by the President’s Office on Wednesday.
The President made this declaration in accordance with Article 84 of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives, which pertains to the day when the President delivers the annual Presidential Address to the People's Majlis (Parliament).
The directive states that Thursday, February 6, 2025, when the President will deliver this year's Presidential Address to the People's Majlis, will be observed as a Government holiday.
In connection with this declaration, Presidential Directive No. 1/2024 (January 18, 2024) issued by the President's Office has been revoked.
