His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by His Excellency Lauri Hussar, President of the Parliament of Estonia “Riigikogu”.
Upon arrival at the Riigikogu, President Dr Muizzu was warmly received by H.E. Hussar and the two leaders took an official photograph to commemorate the historic visit. President Dr Muizzu then signed the Visitors’ Book before proceeding to the luncheon.
During the lunch, the leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for collaboration between the two countries. President Dr Muizzu outlined his developmental agenda for the Maldives, emphasising his commitment to digitalising various sectors to improve public services. He also noted similarities between the Maldives and Estonia, highlighting opportunities for mutual cooperation to achieve shared goals.
H.E. Hussar shared insights on Estonia’s advancements in digital governance, including the e-voting and other innovative technologies.
The discussion concluded with a shared concern about issues compromising international peace and security, and a renewed commitment to work together in the multilateral arena.
