President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday evening met the members of the Maamendhoo Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) to discuss the pressing issues of the island. The meeting took place at the Secretariat of the North Huvadhu Atoll Maamendhoo Council.

The Council expressed the concerns of the residents regarding sanitation issues on the island and the erosion of its shores. They emphasised the need for a new office building to effectively operate the Council. Additionally, the Council requested the Government to implement a road construction project and establish a social center in the island. They also urged the Government to include Hulhimendhoo Island within its jurisdiction to facilitate revenue generation. Furthermore, they requsted for the island's health center to operate as a 24-hour service facility.

During the meeting, the President assured that he would fulfil his pledges, adding that the concerns raised by the Council would be addressed.
