President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday assured the residents of ADh Omadhoo of the Administration’s commitment to realising their developmental goals. The President made the assurance during his address to the island community.
President Dr Muizzu announced that the Administration would address the longstanding issue of the island’s harbour. He acknowledged that budgetary constraints had hindered progress over the past year but emphasised that 2025 would mark a turning point. The development of the harbour is expected to resolve the current challenges faced by the community.
The President also highlighted plans to tackle land erosion. Despite the contracting of projects for harbour and coastal protection, practical efforts have yet to commence. President Dr Muizzu assured that both projects would begin early next year.
In alignment with the Administration’s policy of prioritising essential services, the President detailed additional developmental projects for the education, health, and sports sectors. These include the construction of a multipurpose hall for the school, new classrooms, and the expansion and enhancement of resources for the health centre, all slated for 2025.
Furthermore, the President announced the development of a handball court for women and improvements to the football pitch, both scheduled for next year.
The President also outlined a comprehensive approach to waste management nationwide. He assured that the Administration would provide the necessary resources for the operation of the island’s waste management facility.
Concluding his address, the President declared that 2025 would be a year of significant achievements.
Following his meeting with the island community, the President toured the island’s health centre, engaging with staff to understand the challenges in healthcare delivery. He also visited the harbour area to assess its current condition.
