President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday reaffirmed the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to upholding human rights principles, marking the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

In a post on his official 'X' account, the President stated that as we commemorate Human Rights Day, we are reminded that our rights are interconnected. He emphasised that the Maldives remains committed to building a society where dignity, equality, and justice are the cornerstones of democracy.

In his post, the President highlighted his administration’s dedication to fostering a peaceful and inclusive society by enacting policies and laws that ensure equitable access to healthcare, education, and justice, tailored to the nation’s unique geography. He further reiterated the Administration’s commitment to upholding press freedom, workers’ rights, gender equality, and a sustainable environment for future generations.

The theme for this year’s Human Rights Day is ‘Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now’.
