Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has graced the closing ceremony of 'Visit Maldives Pro 2024'. The Maldives Pro series is an annual bodyboarding event that forms part of the International Bodyboarding Community (IBC) World Tour.

The Vice President was accompanied by his spouse, Aishath Afreen Mohamed.

The Vice President handed over the awards in the Men's Open category. The awards in the Women's Open category were presented by the Vice President's spouse, Aishath Afreen Mohamed.

A total of 88 athletes from 14 countries, including 15 Maldivians, took part in the competition, which ran from August 2–9 at the Varunulaa Raalhugan'du surfing point. The men's open division saw 50 participants, while 23 competed in the women's open division and 23 in the junior division. The event featured prominent athletes from around the globe. This marks the third time the tournament has been hosted in the Maldives.

The Government has committed to substantial efforts to advance the sea sports sector in the Maldives. This includes transforming the Male' Raalhugan'du area into a world-class surfing stadium and expanding surfing tourism to maximise its benefits.
