The Ambassador of European Union to the Maldives, Her Excellency Maria Carmen Moreno Raymundo presented her Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” with MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.
The Ambassador presented her Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed her as the Ambassador of European Union to the Maldives.
Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed various sectors of cooperation, especially focusing on lowering tariffs on fishing exports, following Maldives signing the Samoa agreement recently.
During the meeting, the President also expressed gratitude to the European Union for its ongoing support for Maldives development.
Diplomatic Relations between Maldives and European Union was established in 1983.
Ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as non-resident Ambassador and resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
