Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Maldives, His Excellency Dr Victor Echeverri Jaramillo presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession called “Haiykolhu” with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as the Ambassador of Colombia to the Maldives.
Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of higher education, climate change mitigation, and renewable energy.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Colombia were established on August 22, 1988.
The Ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in New Delhi, India.
