President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has advised people to uphold Islamic values and principles while celebrating Eid by remembering Allah's blessings and avoiding the mixing of cultural and Islamic traditions. He made these remarks in his address commemorating Eid al-Adha 1445.
In his address, he appealed to fellow Muslims to perform good deeds and charitable acts in the name of God, such as hospitality, charity, prayer, and relieving stress. These actions, he noted, will bring joy to the hearts of fellow Muslims during the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha.
The President emphasised that as Eid is celebrated, the priority should be offering heartfelt prayers for the safety of Masjid Al-Aqsa and the people of Palestine. He stated that the Maldives will continue to stand against the injustices faced by Palestinians and actively participate in efforts to liberate Masjid al-Aqsa with unwavering dedication. Additionally, he expressed commitment to supporting every Palestinian Muslim family, emphasising the special place they hold in the hearts of the Maldivian people, and continuously praying for the well-being of every child while cherishing fond memories.
The President also highlighted that festivals such as Eid, along with the celebrations, greetings, recitation of Takbeer, and the inculcation of social spirit and sporting activities, are evidence of the richness of Islam. He encouraged people to take special care in instilling pride in Islam and patriotism in children during Eid and emphasised the importance of respecting Islamic traditions.
