President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Hassan Zareer as Commissioner General of Taxation of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. He made the appointment during a special ceremony held at the President's Office this morning.
Hassan Zareer, appointed today as the Commissioner General, has worked in various tax and audit-related roles since 2000. Most recently, he held the positions of Director of Finance (Group Shared Financial Services) and Group Chief Compliance Officer at Villa Shipping and Trading Company Pvt. Ltd. He also served as the Chairman of the Bank of Maldives from March 7, 2024, to May 23, 2024. Previously, he also worked as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.
Hassan Zareer holds a Bachelor of Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). In addition, he holds the qualifications of Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA, CGMA) in the UK and Certified Practicing Accountant in Australia.
